Dance Explosion Teachers

Take a few minutes to acquaint yourself with the Dance Explosion staff.  We have an incredible group of very dedicated and knowledgeable teachers that take a particular interest in seeing students improve their self-esteem through the enjoyment of dance.  All of our teachers are here because they love dance, love to teach, and most of all love their students.      

 Amy Park

Amy Park/Director

Amy has been dancing since the age of 3 and has loved every minute of it.  She competed on the junior level and then on to the drill team at Clearfield High School.  She attended the University of Utah where she received her degree in Exercise and Sports Science and was a 4 year member of the Crimson Line.  Before starting a family she finished her dancing with Nightline.  She is happily married and is the proud mother of 3 dancing girls and a very busy boy.  Amy also had the pleasure of  coaching a high school drill team and plans on coaching again once her children are older.

Amy Welsh/Director

Amy was born in Salt Lake City and has been dancing here all her life. She competed on a Junior level with her sister  and as a soloist all over the Western United States. Amy purchased the studio in January of 2007 and has enjoyed running the dance studio and working with the children. Amy has 3 children and husband of 10 years who are all very supportive of her dance venture.

 

Rachel Morreale

Rachel Morreale

Rachel was born in Idaho Falls and has been dancing since the age of 3.  She has studied and performed all forms of dance including ballet, tap, lyrical, character, and modern.  In high school she performed with many competition teams and was also a cheerleader.  While at Utah State University, she performed with the Sunburst Dance Team as well as performing and choreographing for 3 years with the Glenn Miller Show.  After graduating, she accepted the position as director of The Sunburst Dancers and assistant director of the Glenn Miller Show.  Rachel’s choreography and performing has taken her to many places throughout the world.  She has taught all ages and styles of dance.  She is a creative and positive person who enjoys sharing her love of dance with others.

      

Jessica Yergensen

 Jessica began her dance training in San Diego at the age of 5.  She began dancing with the California Ballet School where her main training was focused on ballet technique.  However she also studied jazz, modern, flamenco, and character dance.  When she was 17 she auditioned and became an apprentice to The California Ballet Company.  She had the privilege to perform in many professional ballets such as The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Coppelia, A Midsummer's Night's Dream, Alice in Wonderland and Sleeping Beauty.  Jessica moved to Utah to pursue a degree in psychology and currently dances with the Mountain West Ballet.  She has been married for a little over three years and is the proud mother of one.  Jessica loves children and enjoys watching them develop a passion for dance as she encourages them to be the best they can be.  

Gretchen May Chadsey

Gretchen May-Chadsey

Gretchen May-Chadsey  started dancing at the age of 5 and has never stopped. Her dance experience has been with 4 different companies over the last 28 years. In addition too, she danced or cheered with her Junior High School all the way up to college. Her experience is in Jazz, Drill, Tap, Modern, and Cheer. She competed on drill teams for 9 years and Jazz for 5 years, and never took anything less than 1st in individual competitions or team. Dancing is one of her passions. If there's a beat, she's moving to it and usually making up a dance in her head.

Kelsie Bawden

Kelsie Bawden

Kelsie started dancing when she was four years old. She has been dancing on and off until high school when she became a Bingham High Cheerleader. She has competed in Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Tumbling and Cheerleading routines. Before Graduating High School she went to Cosmetology School and was able to graduate High School and receive her Associates degree from Salt Lake Community College all in the same month. She has been working full time in a salon for almost two years now and is very excited to be dancing again.
 

Tammisty Katz

Tammisty has loved dancing since she was young.  She has trained at many prestigous dance studios including The Dance Club of Orem.  Tammisty has been teaching and choreographing dance for the past 15 years.  Her students have received national recognition and many prestigious awards, including National Titles at New York City Dance Alliance, West Coast Dance Explosion, Spotlight Dance Cup, Kids Artistic Revue, LA Dance Magic, and numerous other National Competitions.  You will see many of her students in High School Musical 3.  Her students have danced on the hit TV show "So You Think You Can Dance", and with Ballet West and Odyssey Dance Utah, to name a few. Tammisty has enjoyed judging for national dance competitions including Spotlight Dance Cup and Kids Artistic Revue.  Tammisty attended the University of Utah and graduated with a Bachelor's in Biology.  She has two beautiful children.  Her goal as a teacher is to instill in her students a strong love for dance while helping them to develop great technical skill.
  

Angela Lowder

Angela has been passionate about dance for over 20 years. She was a member of the West Jordan High School Drill team and other competitive teams. She  studied dance under Diane Hawker. She has taught Jazz, Tap and Pre-school Ballet. She is very excited to be teaching again after taking a few years off. Some of Angela's students have performed for the San Francisco 49ers half time show as well as performances on cruse ships.
